Based in Malta, Class Optical is proud to operate its own state-of-the-art optical laboratory, offering full surfacing, tinting, coating, and edging services for prescription lenses. This in-house facility allows us to ensure precision and quality control at every step of the lens production process.
Single Vision
Established in 1992, our Lab has grown from a manual operation to automation and now specializes in the production and distribution of finished ophthalmic lenses.
Varifocal
Our tints and coats section can customise lenses from the traditional colours such as brown, grey or green to more sophisticated shades and gradations.
Specialized Coats
The edging section is fully automated with various edging machines including a fast and reliable dry CNC edger. All data is received through our LMS.

Class Optical Limited has deep roots in Malta’s optical sector. The company traces its origins to two family-owned optical groups—Tuaco and Optika—that came together in 1983 to address local demand for contact lenses and optical frames. Over the years, Class Optical has grown from a local supplier into a key player in Malta’s optical industry, offering products from international suppliers while maintaining its own manufacturing and laboratory facilities.
The establishment of our prescription lens manufacturing facility in the 1990s marked a pivotal moment in our journey, allowing us to meet Malta’s growing demand for high-quality lenses. Today, our lenses are crafted with the latest technology, designed to provide the best possible vision correction while ensuring comfort and durability.
In-House Laboratory
Our in-house laboratory specialises in providing high-quality lab services. We provide the latest products using cutting-edge technologies with a sophisticated process that combines; surfacing, polishing, tints, coats, edging and mounting lenses onto frames.
We provide total lens production process using “Free Form” technology which is the most advanced optical lens manufacturing process that can reduce higher-order aberrations such as aspherical aberration that can occur in ophthalmic lenses processed with traditional manufacturing equipment.
