Class Optical Laboratory Achieves ISO 13485 Certification

Class Optical Group announces that its ophthalmic laboratory, Class Lenses, has achieved ISO 13485 certification, the internationally recognised quality standard for medical devices. The certification confirms the implementation of audited, robust controls across the entire manufacturing process, from lens surfacing and coatings to final assembly, inspection, and distribution of prescription eyewear, reinforcing the company’s commitment to patient safety and consistent product quality.

ISO 13485 is the global benchmark for medical-grade manufacturing. For customers, this translates into tighter traceability, fewer remakes, faster turnaround times, and the assurance that every pair of lenses is produced under validated processes.

With more than 80 years of experience in Malta and the Mediterranean region, Class Optical provides a full spectrum of optical products and services. Its portfolio includes Luxottica eyewear; premium ophthalmic lenses and instruments from Zeiss and Essilor; and contact lenses from Alcon and Bausch + Lomb. Through its subsidiary, Class Medical, the company also supports optical medical specialties.

The Class Optical team has worked diligently to document, validate, and continuously improve each step, from order intake to final inspection. This certification recognises those efforts and establishes a strong foundation for ongoing innovation in lenses, coatings, and assembly.
